Clarice Alane Obituary

Clarice Marie (Hacker) Alane, age 91, wife of Victor Alane for 70 years, from Helenville, WI passed April 15, 2021 at Jefferson Memory Care in Jefferson, WI.

Co-founder of Nature’s Villa, Clarice was born October 8, 1929 in Springfield, IL to Irene and Elmer Hacker. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Ursuline Academy High School. She met Victor Alane in grade school and the two married in 1950. Clarice and Vic raised one son, Paul.

The family moved to Hales Corners, WI in 1960.

In 1965, working side by side for 50 years, Vic and Clarice began developing Nature’s Villa Campground in Helenville. Clarice, a hard worker devoted the rest of her life to maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of the campground. Cooking for many hungry workers, cleaning bathrooms and outhouses, mowing grass with a push mower, manning the camp store, whatever needed doing that she could do she tackled with great dedication.

In 1970 after a devastating fire, they moved out to a new home they had built in the campground and have remained living there. She never really retired, always keeping her eye on the activities during the season when she could no longer do the work herself. Lovingly remembered by many generations of campers as Mother Nature, she scouted around the campground in her golf cart, also sitting for many hours on the porch at the store viewing their beautiful pond and visiting with campers.

Clarice loved playing tennis and golf. She was an excellent cook, also loved to knit, sing, work crossword puzzles, dressing up for parades and skits she performed in, giving toasts, but she especially loved spending time with her family and friends both here in Wisconsin and in Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Irene Hacker and also her sister, Joann.

She is survived by her husband, Victor; her son, Paul (Sally); her grandsons, Joe and Tom (fiancé Lindsay Escobar); brothers-in-law, Dick (Elaine) of Oconomowoc, WI, and Ray (the late Virginia) of Urbana, IL; nieces, Kathy (Lee) Alane Benson and Karen Alane Doyle; nephew, Matthew Alane (Natalie and Blake); great nieces and nephews; and also the beloved Siebert and Reim cousins.

A private family service will be held by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or a charity of one’s choice.

Clarice’s family would like to thank the entire staff of Rainbow Hospice and Jefferson Memory Care for all the wonderful care and love they showed Clarice. Also thank you to family and friends who have supported us during this difficult and sad time.
