Robert “Bob” Moloney Obituary

Robert “Bob” Moloney, 69, of Whitewater, WI (formerly of Norwood Park, IL, Arlington Heights, IL, Trout Valley IL) passed away of sarcoma cancer on August 17th, 2019 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Bob was born on January 5, 1950 in Chicago, IL the son of William & Edith (Lembach) Moloney. Bob grew up in the Chicagoland area. He graduated from Saint Patrick High School in ‘68 then he went on to earn his master’s degree in Education from Roosevelt University. On May 28, 1977 Bob was united in marriage to Dedrie Keegan at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Chicago. God blessed Bob and Dedrie’s union with 5 beautiful children. When Bob was just 23 years old, he bought his first business, a gas station and automotive repair shop. He would go on to own his own business in the automotive industry for the next 45 years in Edison Park and Harwood Heights. He retired in January of 2018. Customer service was of utmost importance to Bob in his work. His goal was always to take care of people and to meet their needs. Whether that meant picking up and dropping off elderly customers, giving a needed discount, or running a customer’s errands while their car was being fixed. People mattered to Bob and he took the time to provide superior customer service.

Bob had many interests during his life. He enjoyed Chicago sports, and was an avid Bears and White Sox fan. He had a love for and interest in Cajun culture, Cajun cooking, Cajun music, and diverse ethnic foods. Out of all Bob’s interests his greatest and deepest love was for his family. His children were the light of his life and he poured himself in to them. He coached countless teams, provided advice when needed, and was intent on teaching his children practical life lessons. He instilled in his children the importance of being kind to others, being responsible financially, and working hard in every thing they did. He taught these valuable lessons by leading through example. Bob’s legacy will live on in his children and family. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

Bob is survived by: his loving wife of 42 years, Dedrie Moloney; his 5 children, Marty Moloney of Arlington Heights, IL, Bridie Moloney of Palatine, IL, Noreen (Ryan) Morgan of Trout Valley, IL, Rita (Aaron James Hoger) Moloney of Chicago, IL, and Sheila Moloney of Trout Valley, IL; 3 grandchildren, Liam, Finley, and Cora Morgan; 7 siblings, Jean (Ron) Cooper, Kevin (Linda) Moloney, Deborah (Nancy Wentink) Moloney, Dorothy Moloney, Joe (Heidi) Moloney, Julie Moloney, and Jerry Moloney.
