David Wickland Obituary

David L. Wickland, 67, of Palmyra, WI passed away on Sunday April 21, 2024 at his home with his family by his bedside.

He was born on June 4, 1956 in Palmyra the son of Anton and Dorothy (Morris) Wickland. He grew up on the family dairy farm and graduated from Palmyra High School. David worked in the shipping industry for a few different companies during his career and finished with Schenk AccuRate of Whitewater. David was united in marriage to Harriet Strooisma on May 6, 1978 at the Palmyra United Methodist Church. The two would go on to enjoy 45 years of marriage together and their union was blessed with two children, Danielle and Joshua. David was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. He was passionate about pursuing turkeys and big bucks, harvesting many trophy deer on his 60 acre property. He also enjoyed collecting model tractors and attending shows to see others’ collections. Another of David’s hobbies was farming. He and Harriet enjoyed gardening, cutting wood, and taking care of their homestead together. A quiet, country life brought them peace and contentment. Above all else in David’s life was his love for his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sincerely missed.

He is survived by: his loving wife, Harriet Wickland of Palmyra, his children, Danielle (Ryan) Hajewski of Eagle, and Joshua (Christine) Wickland of Palmyra; his grandchildren, Rosabella, Dorothea, Hazel, Oliver and Alice Hajewski, and Clayton and Makenzie Wickland; and his siblings, Diane (Paul Donis) Wickland of Fairfax, Virginia, Shirley (Michael Morning) Wickland of Pewaukee, Carol (Lyle) Strooisma of Whitewater, Bill (Vicki) Wickland of Dousman and Joyce (Roger) Sdano of Whitewater. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

David is preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date.
