Alvin Houtsinger Obituary

Alvin R. Houtsinger, 94, of Delavan, WI left his earthly home for Heaven on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at AngelsGrace Hospice Center in Oconomowoc, WI.

Al was born in Kenosha County, WI on May 11, 1929 the son of John E. and Ruth E. (Witt) Houtsinger. He grew up in the Kenosha area and worked as a farmer from a young age. One day after church, Al met a young lady named Mayabelle Majeske. The two would later be married on June 17, 1949 at the Kenosha Baptist Church. Al and Mayabelle would go on to enjoy 75 years of marriage together and were blessed with three children, Robert, David, and Lois. Alvin worked for American Motor Company for 30 years but he truly was a farmer at heart. He worked for his father on the family farm during his younger years and then farmed in the Delavan area with his brother, Donald from about 1976 until his recent retirement. Alvin was a strong Christian and his relationship with Jesus was the most important thing in his life. He was a social and talkative person and loved to chat and visit with just about anyone at any time. Al also loved to tell stories to his friends, family and acquaintances. Even in his final days, he kept an upbeat and bright spirit. Alvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by: his loving wife, Mayabelle Houtsinger of Delavan, WI; his three children, Robert (Patricia) of Virginia, David (Debbie) of Delavan, and Lois of Salem, WI; his grandchildren, Daniel, Amanda (Todd), Jason (Monica), Inga (Joshua), Crystal (John), and Noah. He is also survived by his 19 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Phyllis, and Gladys, and his brother, Donald.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Alvin’s honor may be made the Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee.
