Laura Frances McClair
Laura Frances McClair, age 74, of Norborne, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Shirkey Nursing Rehab Center in Richmond, Missouri.
Laura Frances was born January 2, 1936 in Norborne, Missouri, the daughter of Horace and Helen (Lincoln) Clayton.
Laura Frances was united in marriage to George S. McClair who preceded her in death.
Laura Frances worked for the Norborne Post Office as well as numerous families in the Norborne and Carrollton area for many years as a housekeeper. Watching these children grow to adulthood and being considered a part of their extended families was a great joy to her. She was a life-long member of St. Luke’s A.M.E. Church in Norborne.
Survivors include three children, Julia Annette McClair, Kansas City, Missouri, Phyliss Arlene Brown, Gladstone, Missouri, Robert E. McClair, Carrollton, Missouri, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Her parents, one brother and one sister, also preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m., until service time at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at the Methodist Church, Norborne, Missouri, with Reverend Brenda Smith officiating. Burial will be in Stemple Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in memory of Laura Frances. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.
