Obituary
George Fred Ammon, 83, of Salisbury, MO died on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veteran’s Hospital in Columbia, MO. Graveside services will be held in the East Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery at Salisbury, MO, Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Gail Brown officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Claud Duff Post # 391 American Legion of Salisbury, MO. Visitation will be at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, MO, Friday, February 12, 2010 from
4:00 – 7:30 P.M. Fred was born on July 30, 1926 at Mendon, MO the son of Fred and Alice Bernice (Conger) Ammon. He completed High School at Mendon in 1944. He was called to serve his country as a member of the US Army in the Philippines during WWII.
After returning home he went to work for the Wabash Rail Roads. Later he became an Engineer for the Norfolk & Southern Rail Road. He was married to Betty Jo Woolston on October 2, 1953 at Harrisonville, Arkansas. They were the parents to three sons, Fred Eugene, Alan Ray and Barry Lynn. He was a fifty year member of the Mendon Masonic Lodge and was now a member of the Warren Masonic Lodge # 74 AF & AM at Keytesville, MO. Fred also had been active and enjoyed farming and raising Charolais Cattle. He is survived by his wife Betty Jo of the Home; two sons, Fred (Gene) Ammon of Gatlinburg, TN and Alan Ray Ammon of Salisbury, MO; two sisters, Almira Stephens of Brookfield, MO and Doris Tiemeyer of Meadville, MO; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant brother, one son Barry Lynn Ammon and brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. Pallbearers will be Jim Srader, Don Breshears, Gary Woolston, John Kehr, Randy Woolston and Larry Breshears. Memorials may be made to:
